Hi, my name is Diane

Welcome to my blog. I’d like to tell you a little about myself. I am a single mother to six wonderful children. My ex-husband passed away October 2021. Five of my children are adults, four are out on their own now. I am also the proud nana to three beautiful grandsons! My sobriety date is July 1, 2017, that was also the first day of the rest of my life! My amazing life began on that day when I found the courage, with the help of my amazing therapist to walk in to my first AA meeting and not pick up a drink or drug since that day. I’d like to share my journey out of the darkness and into the light as well as share how AA and one amazing therapist walked an amazing journey with me. I titled my blog The Parentless Parent because I was raised by a single mother who was unavailable both physically and emotionally. I raised myself and then had to figure out how to raise six kiddos. I’m honestly still figuring it out. I walked an incredible journey through eating disorders, physical and sexual abuse, rape, drug and alcohol addiction, coming out to family and much more. I was weeks from inevitable death when I walked into my first AA meeting and never in a million, trillion, zillion years did I think the life I have now was possible.
